Meet Geppetto!

Tumbleweed is a spotted miniature donkey at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch.

Geppetto’s Story

Geppetto arrived at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch when a Kansas City area rescue organization closed and transferred more than 30 horses, mules and donkeys to the ranch. Before his arrival, Geppetto’s hooves had been severely neglected, they were so long he could not properly walk or stand. Today, he has a limp, perhaps from an old injury or birth defect, but this sweet gentleman doesn’t let it slow him down.

Geppetto’s Health

Geppetto receives top-notch care at Longmeadow. Once every 8 weeks, his hooves are trimmed, and he receives routine deworming. He sees a veterinarian annually for teeth floating, rabies vaccination, and a Coggins test for equine infectious anemia. Geppetto enjoys regular, hearty meals of grass hay.

Geppetto’s Personality

Geppetto is an adorable, loving miniature donkey. He prefers spending time with the horses at the ranch, rather than the other donkeys. In fact, his favorite past time is watching the sport of polo, which he enjoys once a year at the Endangered Wolf Center’s annual Polo Match! Geppetto also loves treats, especially Ginger Snaps.

Your sponsorship will help feed, board and provide medical care for Geppetto and all of the rescued farm animals who find a safe haven at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch.
