Meet Sonny and Cher!
Sonny is a black Silkie rooster and Cher is a barred rock hen. Both live at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch.
Sonny and Cher’s Story
Sonny’s previous family surrendered him to Longmeadow because their neighborhood did not allow roosters. Unfortunately, when they bought Sonny, they were told he was a hen. Neighbors complained about Sonny crowing at all hours. At Longmeadow, he can crow to his heart’s content! As a very young chick, Cher was purchased as an Easter present for someone who did not have the time or space to properly raise a chicken. They quickly decided to surrender her to a place that could properly care for and love her.
Sonny and Cher’s Health
Today, Sonny and Cher are thriving in the care of Longmeadow’s expert staff. They have their nails trimmed as needed and receive routine deworming. In addition to their pelleted chicken feed, they find other treats when they roam outside their coop. Sonny loves grapes and strawberries; Cher enjoys being fed bits of apple and finding bugs and worms.
Sonny and Cher’s Personality
Sonny and Cher are friendly, docile birds who enjoy meeting new human friends, especially those with treats. They share a coop with other Longmeadow birds, including fellow Barn Buddies Cameo, Binks, and Pom Pom, and enjoy days spent free range roaming the ranch.
