Abira, known affectionately as Abbey, was rescued in 2012 from a property with numerous other neglected animals including dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, and other horses. She was severely underweight and she was suffering from overgrown hooves. After arriving at Longmeadow, Abbey received the care she so desperately needed. She was fed properly to facilitate weight gain. She had her teeth floated. Her hooves were trimmed. And then, she was adopted into a loving, forever home.
Her new owner chose the name “Abira,” because it means “strong and brave,” describing her personality: She handles any obstacle you put in front of her with determination.
