Tumbleweed

a palomino mare

i’m tumbleweed,
a beautiful Palomino mare. Palominos are known for their distinctive white or gold coats and platinum manes and tails. I was named for my own unique, straw-like coloring. I was rescued in 2012 along with 17 other equines and am happy to say we all survived.
my journey:
I was a sad sight upon arrival at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch. I was dehydrated, malnourished and unable to stand. Several times a day, the staff would lift me to my feet until I gained enough strength to stand on my own. I suffered permanent injuries and will never be ridden due to years of neglect. But today I have a meaningful life as an animal ambassador. I love socializing with my pasture mates and meeting new human friends.
did you know?
A difficult past couldn’t spoil my outlook on life. After years of having so little, I will never be lonely or go hungry again! I’m known as the one-woman welcoming committee to every newcomer who enters my pasture, and will befriend the horses who find themselves towards the bottom of our herd’s pecking order. Much of my time is spent leisurely watching the other farm animals, and snacking on every bit of hay that comes my way.

happy to be here!

I love life at Longmeadow and have been pampered since the day I arrived. You can see me kicking up my heels in joy during daily romps through the pasture. The staff makes sure I stay healthy through regular dental care, deworming treatments and proper nutrition. As my sponsor, you help make this possible! Thanks, and remember to come visit me and the other Barn Buddies soon.
