hello, i’m alpacacino, and i’m an alpaca.
I was born at Longmeadow in fall 2024 and am sweet as can be!

my journey:
My mom arrived at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in late September 2024 from another rescue. She was thin and desperately needed her hooves trimmed. Just a few hours after arrival, she had me! I think she knew she was finally safe and would be able to raise me in a caring environment. I’ve grown up around other alpacas and llamas and am curious and affectionate with my human friends. Because of this, my human friends knew I’d make a great ambassador of Longmeadow’s mission!

Baby alpacas and llamas are called crias. I was considered a cria until I was weaned from my mother’s milk when I was 6 months old. These days, I eat specialized grain for young alpacas, along with grass, hay and I enjoy an occasional treat from my human friends at the ranch!

Though I am extremely curious by nature and do venture out on my own from time to time, I find comfort in being around my alpaca and llama friends at the Ranch. We are herd animals and enjoy spending time together! If you spot me, my friends are likely nearby.
