Longmeadow Rescue Ranch is excited to announce its newest Barn Buddy, a 1-year-old alpaca named Alpacacino!
Last September, Longmeadow took in two adult female alpacas from Oklahoma. The Longmeadow team was in for a big surprise when one of the alpacas gave birth only a few hours after arriving at the ranch. The mother alpaca was in poor health and unable to support her newborn with colostrum (first milk), so the Longmeadow team jumped in to supplement and save his life. Thankfully, the mother was soon able to take over, and both she and the little one thrived in the months that followed.
Alpacacino grew up around other alpacas and llamas at the ranch and is curious and affectionate with his human friends. Because of this, the Longmeadow team knew Alpacacino would make a great Barn Buddy!
The Barn Buddies are a team of ranch ambassadors that embody Longmeadow’s mission of rescue and rehabilitation. While they are not available for adoption like other animals at the ranch, they are available for sponsorship. Their sponsorships help feed, board and provide medical care for all the rescued farm animals who find a safe haven at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch.
Those interested in sponsoring Alpacacino or any of the other Barn Buddies (including horses, goats, pigs and more) can find more information at longmeadowrescueranch.org/barnbuddies. Sponsorships start at $60/year and include a plush animal, an adoption certificate and a Longmeadow sticker.
