Mars & Sundae

Mars and Sundae came to Longmeadow underweight in November 2021.

Mars, a 28-year-old gelding, came to Longmeadow in November 2021 several hundred pounds underweight and unable to chew hay. Weighing just barely over 800 pounds and winter weather quickly approaching, his future was guarded.

We began reintroducing Mars to grain, chopped alfalfa, and supplemental vitamins in hopes he would slowly regain weight. Despite the neglect he had suffered, Mars remained bright-eyed and spirited! After many months of medical attention and care from our dedicated team at Longmeadow, Mars was able to go to his forever home at the end of March!

Twenty-six-year-old Sundae came to Longmeadow in November 2021 and was also underweight. She had rubbed off part of her mane and had abrasions on her face. She overcame some lameness in late 2021 and began to gain some weight back. This sweet girl was ready for adoption in early 2022, and she was excited to go with her friend Mars to her forever home!
