Mozzarella & Taleggio

Mama Mozzarella and 1-year-old baby Taleggio first came to Longmeadow in September 2022.

Taleggio was scared and unhandled, with a large growth on the side of his mouth. We later found this growth was a sarcoid. It was removed by one of our fantastic vets, and now, you wouldn’t even be able to tell it ever existed! Once the growth was removed, Taleggio realized his true form – a HANDSOME young man! He quickly learned how much fun humans could be – they always had treats for him! He spent his days at Longmeadow following staff around and making friends with our mini horse. Before we knew it, he had learned his manners and was ready for adoption. It didn’t take long for him to find his forever home with Lynn and Larry!

Mozzarella did not have much groundwork history. She was scared of being touched and difficult to handle for the first couple of weeks after she arrived. Luckily, our dedicated staff and volunteers have experience with donkeys like her and worked extra hard to introduce her to halters, lead ropes, and people in general! Before we knew it, she was friendly, playful, and ready for adoption!

About a month after Taleggio went home with Lynn and Larry, they came back to get Mozzarella, too! They reunited with her baby (now Sherman). Both of them will be able to live out the rest of their lives together with a fantastic new forever family. We will miss them, but we are so happy that the rest of their stories will continue together.
