Ruby Moon

In early October 2023, our Ruby Moon went home!

Ruby made Longmeadow news when she was surrendered alongside another mare, named Jubilee, in July 2022. Both girls were suffering from severe neglect. They were several hundred pounds underweight and in desperate need of dental and farrier care. We began her rehabilitation right away. (You can read more about their story here!)

It took Ruby a while to gain confidence, especially on farrier days. She did not like staff (or anyone) touching her legs. Our groundwork team took her under their wing and worked for months, using positive reinforcement and showing Ruby that farrier care didn’t hurt! By the day she left, Ruby Moon was getting farrier treatments done out in the pasture!

Ruby was a fine example of Longmeadow’s mission, and we are so happy to see the horse she turned into. Thank you, Stephanie, for giving our girl such a good home.
